Gene S. Carranza, President

 

Having been interested in concrete construction at an early age, Gene spent his high school and college summers working for his uncle’s construction company. This sparked his interest to pursue a degree in Engineering. While completing his civil engineering studies, Gene had the opportunity to compete for the University of Hawaii’s gymnastics team, on an athletic scholarship.

 

Gene serves as a State of California Subject Matter Expert and is a Court Certified Expert Witness. As a Subject Matter Expert, he is a consultant to the Contractor’s State License Board re: C-8, C-50, B and Business Law Contractor License Exams.

 

Originally from Chicago, Gene has been in San Diego since 1976. His extensive experience has made him well-respected in San Diego’s construction community. Gene’s thoughts and ideas on the constructability of projects are frequently solicited by architects, engineers and builders. It’s not uncommon for Gene to be consulted during a projects’ conceptual stage. In addition to operating a successful construction company since 1978, he and Vanessa, his wife of 42 years, co-owned [while Vanessa operated] a travel agency for 20 years. His extensive travel has facilitated in correctly implementing many of today’s desired design features. Gene and Vanessa are proud parents of three college-educated daughters. They are actively involved with their daughters' families and their eight grandchildren. 

 

Gene S. Carranza, founder and president of GSC Concrete, Inc. is also the president of GSC Contracting, Inc. which builds and develops custom homes in the greater San Diego area.
